HABIBI
Habibi, or habibti, is the most common word of endearment in Arabic. Habibi is the masculine word that you would say to you male partner, son or male friend, while habibti is the female version said to your girlfriend, daughter or other females you like. Sometimes habibi can be used as a gender neutral, as it sometimes was in classical literature and poetry.

Habibi is a triangular shawl with a lace heart motif, making it a true darling shawl. It is knit bottom up with increases on each right-side row, on either side just inside a simple garter stitch edge. It ends with a few rows of ribbing before the bind-off. To make the edges nicer, always slip the first stitch purlwise with the yarn in front, and knit the last stitch through the back loop.

Habibi is adapted for the yarn Cheeky Merino Joy from Rosy Green Wool, a lovely sport weight merino yarn so soft you will want to cuddle it. The pattern is part of a collaboration between the author and the yarn shop Organic Knitters. Organic Knitters is an online yarn store for conscious knitters and fiber enthusiasts. The shop is based in Sweden and ships to all EU countries. It offers fairly produced and organic yarn that is good to the environment, the animals and to humans. The goal is to make sure that the production is as sustainable as possible all the way from farming to spinning and dyeing. We hope that you will enjoy a new dimension in your creative process when choosing yarn with a clear conscience.
