“All Heaven and Earth
Flowered white obliterate…
Snow…unceasing snow”
Haiku by Kajiwara Hashin

Inspired by this winter poem…I designed Haiku, a slouchy hat pattern that also includes instructions for an ear warmer.

The 16” band is very accommodating and will stretch up to 25”. Knit with bulky yarn and large needles makes this a one day project, perfect for last minute Christmas gifts.

Needles used are US #10 1/2 DPN’s or 16” circular and US #13 circular either 16” or 24”.

If you’re using Cascade 128, the remaining 100 yards from the second skein you will need is enough to complete the matching Haiku Leg-Arm Warmers. This pattern also includes instructions for a shorter Boot Cuff.

Each pattern can be purchased separately or together by an E-Book (which is more cost effective!)

I’ve included some ideas above for alternative yarns for this project that should work very well.

The bind off I used for the ear warmer is Jeny’s Suprisingly Stretchy Bind Off, which can be viewed here. link text
