Starting in January 2018, I am hosting a knit a long for this hat here.

This hat was inspired by the tin and bronze work of the Hallstatt culture. They were a proto celtic people who lived in central Europe about 3,500 to 2,500 years ago. Their metalwork is full of braids and lines. The shaping of the hat mimics the rim of the Vix krater. (A krater is a vessel for mixing wine.)

And thanks to Gladhatter, Chrysia, and EmiJ for being models.
