“Doppelgangland” is the follow-up episode to “The Wish” in the third season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In “The Wish” we’re transported to an alternate universe where Willow is a ruthless badass vampire. In “Doppelgangland” Vampire Willow crosses over into the “normal” universe and makes things very interesting for non-vampy Willow and the Scoobie Gang.

Hands! Hands! are elbow-length fingerless mitts with two twisted-stitch cable motifs up the sides of the arms. These motifs represent each of the two universes. Eventually the inside cable motif splits and crosses over the wrist to join the other one, just as Vampire Willow crosses over to the other universe. There is also subtle shaping in the palm and thumb for a snug fit.

Note: This pattern is written for a smooth, elbow-length fingerless mitt. However, instructions and formula for a drop-stitch variation have been included if you wish to make a more raggedy and distressed-looking pair of mitts. This allows you to add as many or as few as you want, or none at all. It’s all up to you!
