“If it had grown up, it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.”
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

This pattern was designed for the 2018 Wonderland Sock Club. Inspired by the colorful characters of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, each design evokes a childhood memory of the character they were named for. My hope is that as you knit these socks, you too will be filled with the nostalgia of childhood and reminded of the clever wit of Lewis Carroll.

The Handsome Pig is a top down sock that has plain stockinette interspersed with sections worked in a textured slip stitch pattern. It works well with a highly variegated yarn to give pops of color but the pattern also looks lovely on self-striping yarn. The socks are finished with an Eye of Partridge heel flap, gusset and a round toe.
