I was recently lucky enough to collaborate with Fiber Addiction, TurtleMade and Chasing Acorns for kits that Fiber Addiction will introduce at Yarn Con in Chicago this April. My contribution was to spin Fiber Addiction’s dyed Polwarth and create a pattern that would work well with the thick ‘n’ thin handspun yarn that many new spinners create. I loved this idea so much that I put together a little tutorial on the spinning process as well as creating the pattern!

This cowl pattern is meant to show off your Thick and Thin handspun yarns with a variety of stitches that look great with this unique yarn. The cowl is knit flat so you can use up as much of the yarn as possible. You can either use a provisional cast on and seam the ends together, cast on normally and add buttons later or you could even just use it as a scarf!

At least 60 yds of handspun should be used but around 90 yds was used for the sample. I used a size 19 needle but you may find a size 17 works better for you. The pattern contains exact directions as well as a recipe so you can get creative with it!
