Happy Hoppin’ Hands

This pattern was designed in support of the 2015 MN Yarn Shop Hop.

Thank you for your contributions to the MN Food Shelves!

Please enjoy these beaded (the beads are optional, but magical - give it a try, why don’t cha) fingerless mitts. Each mitt uses 269 beads, 538 beads for the pair. I use TOHO brand size 6/0 seed beads.

Knit with dk weight yarn and size 6 double pointed needles, at a 5 st./in. gauge. Use size 5 for a smaller fit, size 7 for a larger size. Of course, the magic loop or two circular needles method may be used. I love my dpns, so I’m comfy with that method:)

The 3” extra long cuffs may be folded down. When I was a kid, my mitten cuffs were always too short and my wrists would freeze, so every time I knit mitts, the cuffs always get a few more rows than usual. Feel free to modify the length to 15 rows for a 2” cuff. The cuffs measure at about 7 rows/inch.

I debated whether or not to bead the thumb tips and came down on the side of “more is more”, just for fun. The beads ARE optional everywhere in this design, so feel free to modify it as you choose:)

Thank you for your amazing support and generous donations to the food shelves!

I would like to thank Roxanne, Jenni, and Aimee for having me at their shops during the hop.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with me and watch the bead demo. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, as well as make new friends.

Thank you for all of the class and pattern support!

Happy Spring!
Enjoy!
