This hat is knitted in a very interesting stitch pattern that combines simple cables and garter stitch.

It’s knitted in the round and does not have a seam.

Size: to fit a child or an average lady with head circumference of 21”-23”

You can make this hat smaller or bigger by using a thinner or thicker version of medium worsted weight yarn and different size needles.

I’ve knitted these two hats in Caron Simply Soft in Blackberry and Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Linen using US #6/7 needles for the ribbing and US #8/9 for the main part of the hat. The Blackberry hat fits Size Small-Medium and the Linen hat fits Size Medium-Large.

The pattern includes both written instructions and a chart for the stitch.

Yarn used: #4 medium worsted/aran (10 ply)
Gauge: 4.5/4 sts per 1” in stockinette stitch

Difficulty level: intermediate
