Hatchling is a child’s dragon puppet, knit in the round. The spine is worked in a contrasting color with a picot bind-off (tutorial included). The top and bottom of the mouth are grafted closed (tutorial not included).

Yarn: You will need approximately 50 yards of a worsted-weight alpaca or other soft, sturdy fiber for best results. (Pictured: Frog Tree Alpaca Worsted in 46 – worsted, 1 skein / 50g / 87 yards, 100% alpaca)

Supplies:

  • 4 US size 5 double-pointed needles
  • stitch holder or waste yarn
  • scrap yarn for spine and face (Pictured: Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Marine)
  • tapestry needle

Sizing: Finished puppet has a circumference of approximately 5 inches and a length of approximately 6 inches. It should fit toddlers and young children.
