This is my first published pattern. The Hattie is in honour of all the hookers who taught me how to crochet.

It is a simple & comfortable hat yet unconventional that it stands out in any crowd amongst the plain store boughts. It makes a newborns head warm in the colder months whilst you go out for a stroll.

The pattern is super easy if you know how to crochet the basics but with a twist! Instead of single crochet why not try the extended single crochet? Instead of half double crochet why not tackle the crossed half double crochet. And have you tried to do the single crochet backwards? This crab stitch will take you from beginner level to super hero. Any experienced hooker will also love the variation of this pattern. It is crocheted quite easily and quickly.

It is a great handmade gift.

Use one colour or more. With plaits, without, 2 pom poms or not. It’s uniqueness is your inspiration. Use a thicker yarn and bigger hook and the size can be made for children through to adults.
