Lace is the true star in this faded, crescent shawl. It helps hide some clever short rows that elongate the top edge for maximum wearability.

Add in a simple, easy to knit lace pattern and the color changes are lost in the haze of lace and fabric.

Size: 90 in/230 cm along the top edge; 20 in/50 cm along the deepest width of the shawl. Shawl size may vary, depending on individual knitter’s gauge, yarns used, and blocking preferences. (May also use smaller needles to bring the overall size down. This will make the fabric a little tighter as well as the overall dimensions smaller. Use the needle/yarn combo that feels good to you! Pattern is not based on gauge.)

Recommended yarn: Three colors of fingering weight yarn in semi-solid/tonal/variegated/speckled/faded colors.

Sample Used: Three Irish Girls Adorn Luxe (85% Merino/15% Nylon; 430 yds per skein) in Zydeco (A), River Delta (B), and Blue Bayou (C).

Yardage:
* Colors A, B, and C: 400 yards/ 365 m of each color.

Needles: One set of US size 5/3.75 mm needles in a 32-40” inch length. (80-100cm)

Gauge: 6 sts to the inch in Garter Stitch on US size 5/3.75 mm needles

Notions: Stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle.

Techniques used: No-Turn Short Rows, simple increases (YO) and decreases (SK2PO, SSK, k2tog), I-Cord edge, color changes, and basic knit/purl stitches.
