Heart Soap Saver is an adorable pouch pattern with a hand embroidered heart motif in the center & scallop shells edging. It closes with ties. The tie ends have crocheted bells on each side.

You can use this small pouch as a soap saver, as an eco-friendly loofah, as a small pouch to hold your change, as a potpourri sachet, etc.

Recently, I’ve been hand spinning a lot of yarn. Yes, I said hand spinning, which means I use just my bare hands to make these yarns. My recently handspun yarn was jute in 2 weights: Light Fingering and Lace.

I even hand dyed these fibers myself and then made 2 ply yarns out of it. I wanted to use them for my pattern. When I showed these yarns to my friends on Facebook, they wanted to see my finished project out of these yarns.

I already knew I will be using some of these yarns for making things for my personal use. This pouch is one of my many projects and designs that I’ll be making using my yarns. I have more designs already in my mind.

Making your own hand dyed and handspun yarns, then using it to design a pattern and using the end product is so satisfying and adventurous.

Thank you for reading my story. <3

Basic embroidery skills required: You should know how to make a basic embroidery chain stitch.

Materials:

Suggested Yarns:
I made it using my yarns, “Lace Jute” & “Light Jute” You may use any lace weight yarn to make this pouch. The ties can be made using any light fingering weight yarn. Both the yarns I used are jute yarns, but you can use any other type of yarn containing jute, flax, hemp or cotton.

This project will be great to use up those tiny scraps of yarn which gets left behind after making different projects.

For the pouch, you will need about 40-45 yards of Lace weight/ (19 wpi) yarn which gives you a gauge of 16 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in Sc Square.

For the ties and the bells, you will need about 4-5 yards of light fingering weight/ (16 wpi) yarn or you may double up the same laceweight yarn you use for the pouch.
