Hearts and Flowers Shawl is knitted from the top down with the side shaping accomplished by short rows. It has knit and purl combinations on most rows, including the lace rows, and so is a little more difficult than a straight stockinette lace shawl, but still, the testers think this is an intermediate level pattern. The knit and purl combinations do result in a pattern that looks fine from either side.

Gauge is not important, except that it be a final texture that will drape nicely. This sample scarf uses 1 ball of KnitPicks Chroma fingering, 396yds/100g, color ‘Lupine’
