Heatwave Summer Catch-All
This bag is constructed by creating a flat garter-stitch base knitted separately from the rest of the bag. The base pattern creates two live-stitch edges and two side edges from which you will have to pick up stitches later.
Once the base is knit, the body of the bag is knit top-down. The handle is created by casting off stitches mid-row and casting them back on again in the following row. The two pieces are joined with a three-needle bind-off.
The bag can be knit to any height. My sample is 12” tall with a 9” x 4” base, and I used 1.75 balls of Eco Bag.
If using a different yarn, I’d recommend a chunky one--this yarn is labelled as worsted but is somewhat like macrame cord--pretty dense. The bag stands up by itself with the Eco Bag yarn, which is what I was aiming for. It’s a fantastic tote/knitting project bag and keeps my water bottle standing upright, too!
