Heidi Shawl
2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Shawl CAL

This ruffly, fluttery shawl adds an accent of whimsy to any outfit. Worked in rows from the top of the neck out and down, this shawl stretches wider than a traditional triangle to give added wrap and warmth. Simple stitches create a hidden diamond in the body of the shawl, and the use of the Jacob’s Ladder on the outside makes this wrap look deceivingly complex. However, with a little bit of careful reading, you will have no trouble creating the Heidi Shawl.

The pattern includes easy-to-follow instructions and pattern notes. It also features close-up photos to guide you as you complete the Jacob’s Ladder. Overall, this pattern is perfect for a crocheter who is looking for a challenge to improve their pattern-reading game.

The Heidi Shawl is the February installment of the 2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Crochet ALong, which features a different shawl pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to a local children’s hospital - specifically a cancer ward - so they can be handed out to mothers who suffer the pain of watching their child be ill. I design and donate these shawls in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
