I was asked by my grandmother, Helen, to make her a pair of mittens for this past Christmas.
I scoured the Internet and Ravelry for the perfect stitch pattern to no avail.
I had almost given up hope until I found this wonderful website called Knitting Fool.
I searched their database until I found this lovely stitch called the Japanese Feather Lace and realized it would be absolutely perfect for the mitts.
I converted the lace stitch to be knit in the round, played with placement of the thumb, and these fingerless mitts were born.
These mitts are perfect for those single skeins of DK weight yarn you might have hibernating in your stash. It only takes 1 skein, a few evenings in front of the TV, and you have a beautiful pair of lace fingerless mitts for yourself or a friend.
