Originally published in The Unofficial Harry Potter Knits, Heliopath Vest has been re-released as a self published design as of October 2016. This version has been rewritten in my usual format, rephotographed and tech edited. It also includes the addition of written instructions for the stitch pattern, to join the charted version from the original.

What would Luna Lovegood knit for herself? I picture Luna (my favorite Harry Potter character) knitting this vest--a quirky take on a traditional layering piece. The body is worked in a multitextured stitch pattern that combines cables, eyelet lace, and dropped stitches (for when Luna was distracted by nargles, of course!)

Knitted in one piece from the bottom up, the stitch pattern keeps you on your toes until the big reveal comes when select stitches are dropped at the end.

Need help figuring out how to drop stitches while binding off? I’ve got a photo tutorial to help you out!
