First the front edge is worked in rib. Stitches are cast on using the Italian cast-on technique and bound off using the Italian bind-off technique. When the front edge is finished, stitches are picked up and knitted along its side and the two sides of the cardigan are worked out from there. Decreases are worked along the top of the shoulders and on the sleeves to create a better fit, and at the same time stitches are bound off for the sides and sleeves. The sleeves are finished with a tight cuff in rib.
