Hermes is a unisex hat. It may be shaped into a regular hat, a slouch or a Tam. It all depends on how you block it. This pattern was inspired by Barbara G. Walker “Fancy Cable Check” from A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns Book. It has been adapted for knitting a hat on the round. It has a lot of versatility, for many shapes and head sizes. If you substitute yarns make sure you make a gauge swatch.

I am a Hat Maker, and a Mad Hatter for that matter. I see the possibilities of a hat in almost any pattern. I like to make hats that are interesting and have texture as this hat does.

I hope that you will discover your favorite style, then make one for you and one for a friend.

Unblocked hat measures 8” from the crown to the edge of the cast on and 20 inches on the round.

Finished Dimensions: Rib band measures about 18(20, 22, 24) inches if you get gauge.
