This is a lovely shawl that can be knit also as a scarf with a simple herringbone lace pattern. It is grafted together using the kitchener stitch and is a good advanced beginner project to learn lace knitting.

Note if you are using the suggested Lion and Lamb yarn, you will need 4 hanks for the shawl and 2 for the scarf. It is possible to remove one repeat from the scarf and possibly get away with 1 hank, but be sure you plan that sort of modification out ahead of time.
