This stitch pattern looks good on both sides so the cowl wrapped around the neck doesn’t show a “wrong” side. If you want a taller cowl, complete more repeats, ending with either row 5 or row 10. The cowl can be shortened or lengthened in 3 inch increments by adding or subracting pattern repeats. Each 18 stitch repeat measures 3 inches at gauge.
