Am I the only one who rewound the Hershey’s Kiss TV commercial to examine the brown hat the young lady was wearing?

Ribbed brim, garter stitch body with some knit lines travelling (like a 1 st cable?) over the garter surface – looked a bit like a chocolate kiss itself.

Pretty sure I heard my husband sigh at me.

Measurements: 8” tall x 19” circumference (flat, unstretched – fits my 21” circ. head pretty well)

Materials:
approx. 200m of worsted weight yarn (I used 1 ball of Paton’s Decor, 100g = 190m/208yds)
or approx. 100m of super bulky (I used 1 ball of Loops & Threads Cozy Wool, 127g = 82m/ 90yds, but only did 2” ribbing. It was just exactly enough, not an inch to spare – had 12m left after the hat was done, used 12” for the pom-pom tie and the rest wrapped my 4 fingers 42 times)
6.0mm & 8.0mm circular needles or double pointed needles, or sizes as required for tension/purpose
yarn needle for weaving ends
(maybe 4 stitch markers if you need to separate the repeats, but it didn’t seem necessary to me)

Tension: 4” in garter stitch on 8.0mm:
worsted weight held double was 12 sts x 24 rows
and super bulky was 11 sts x 22 rows.

Pattern Notes:
-Knit bottom up, worsted weight yarn held double, or super bulky yarn held single. Use what’s left to make the pom-pom.
(I will not be explaining how to make the pom-pom as these instructions are readily available just about anywhere.)

-I did 1 st cables without a cable needle and slipped the knit sts every other row to make them sit on top of the garter. (Slip the cable’s knit st on the garter purl rows, and knit on the garter knit rows.)
-I used this stretchy double-knot cast on, but you can use whatever cast-on you prefer for ribbing.
-I made the chart in Excel and didn’t use all standard symbols, but I did my best to try to make it make sense.
