This is a top-down lace shawl that is knit in one piece, starting with casting on 8 stitches and finishing with binding off 8 stitches.
There are no long cast-ons or bind offs.
The side edges are knit at the same time as the body. The lower edging is a knit-on edging, which is joined (at the end of each knit row) to the live stitches at the bottom of the shawl.
The shawl can be worked in a simple stockinette stitch body with a lacey edge, or with a patterned lace body.
The stockinette stitch version is expandable by working additional repeats to make a larger shawl.
The small shawl took a single skein of 50g/360m of heavy laceweight yarn. the larger shawl will require additional yarn.
The lace version is in one size as show, which takes about 600-700m of laceweight yarn. Beads can be used in place of nupps if desired.
