This shawl is named after the garden at Hidcote Manor in Gloucestershire, England. The garden was laid out in the 1920’s by Lawrence Johnston. The Hidcote Garden is characterized by its wild abundant plantings bounded within structured, geometric beds. Hidcote Garden is also famous for it’s lavender varieties.

The shawl is divided up into 3 sections. The upper border that resembles a field of flowers. The middle section is clean and geometric, being reminiscent of the beds that the flowers are planted in. The third section was designed to mirror the lavender that it is named for Hidcote Garden.

This shawl is extra large, making it wonderful to wrap up in for a stroll in the garden, or an elegant evening out.

The French Language version of this pattern is a couple of iterations behind in the layout department, but the pattern still works. Updating the layout is on my list of things to do when I have some free time (with about a million other such things), but I don’t know when I’ll be getting to it. For now though, if you’d prefer the French Version, it’s one of the pdf’s in the download.
