This is a patter for a knit wrap that features two stitches that come to us from Japan. The focal stitch is an intricate cable lace stitch that makes quite a statement. The border stitch, the Japanese version of a cabled ladder stitch, is also unique, but quite a bit easier to knit. Combined, they make a one of a kind shawl, quickly becoming an heirloom.

Skill Level: Intermediate - Intermediate + (assuming a basic knowledge of cable-lace knitting).

The two stitches are both charted.

The sample was expertly pattern tested by Aaron Atwood, who can be reached at: eochdubh.pooka@gmail.com. The shawl was knit in Mrs. Crosby’s Hat Box yarn, in colorway, Monkey Orchid.
