Hogwarts is a very drafty castle, especially during the cold winter months. Taking a page out of Hermione’s playbook and knitting warm hats can help keep the chill at bay. Each of the Hogwarts Houses has a specific pattern with the house’s mascot, the object owned by the founder that You-Know-Who turned into his horcrux, and the deathly hallows symbol at the top. Each pattern in unique, but similar enough to show that they are all from the same school. And unless you have wand up your sleeve, knitting dozens of sweaters like Mrs. Weasley seems very difficult.

Emily wants everyone to know that she does not agree with anything J.K. Rowling has tweeted or her beliefs. These hats will remain free and unsupportive of bigotry.

I made the Slytherin hat for my boyfriend. He’s living on a small island just outside of Long Island Sound in New England for the winter. It’s very windy out there and I want to make sure he’ll be warm enough when he commutes to work. Even though wool would’ve been warmer, I used Red Heart yarn because he’s a cook and he’ll be able to clean acrylic yarn better. I made myself the Ravenclaw hat so we can walk around in, looking all matchy :3
