Thumb shaping is part flap, part welt for a nice fit, with rounded thumbs and tops. The poinsettia wrist band is stranded, holly and berries are intarsia in the round, with embroidery added.

Carol’s tips for knitting this project:

With the intarsia holly leaves, the challenge is the tension, since you’re stranding forward with the main color and back with the leaf color. For best results and to reduce the appearance of holes between colors, strand the contrasting color more loosely, and the main color snugly.
Duplicate stitch would be a fine alternative.
