Holly is the perfect ‘go-to’ baby set. The pretty cardigan and adorable pixie hat both knit up quickly and the two-tone design offers endless possibilities for your favourite colour combinations as well as allowing you to use up those two spare skeins of yarn that aren’t quite enough for a complete project by themselves. Ideal for both boys or girls, just add the appropriate buttons and alternate the button bands.

Size:
Will fit most babies 0-3 months but be guided by the measurements. A bigger size can be achieved by using larger needles and/or heavier gauge yarn and of course, length of cardigan and sleeves can be easily adjusted by knitting more rows/rounds as there is no shaping in this design.

Chest circumference: 48 cms/18.5 inches
Length (Shoulder to Hem): 22.5 cms/8.5 inches
Length (Underarm to Hem): 14.5cms/5.7 inches

Sleeve circumference: 14cms/5.5 inches

Hat
Circumference (Very stretchy): 14 cms/5.5 inches

Method: The cardigan is worked from the neck down, once the yoke is completed, stitches are placed onto holders for the sleeves and the body of the cardigan is completed in one piece. The sleeves are then worked in the round and finally stitches are picked up and knitted along the front edges for the button bands. The hat is knitted entirely in the round. These construction methods ensure there are no seams to be sewn. A little stitching is required underneath the armholes and to attach the buttons and also to weave in the ends.

Materials:
Each set requires approx 100g of DK Weight Yarn, 50g of each colour, (yardage will depend on chosen yarn).
Example here is worked in Baby Joy DK in Navy and Fuchsia.
Pair of circular needles in size 4.00mm (US size 6)
4 stitch markers or small loops of spare yarn.
Large eyed wool needle.
6 Buttons, 15mm (I.5 cms)
