The Honey Flower Hat uses traveling slipped stitches to create an “X” pattern on the main body of the hat along with strategically placed and, mostly hidden decreases create a flower motif at the crown. It’s striking in stripes or as a solid color hat. Ombre/slightly variegated yarns work especially well as a contrast color or for a single color hat or cowl. The cowl is designed to be a single color. The cowl is knit in a single color using strategic accents of garter stitch in the diamonds so that the cowl will block flat.

If you knit both the hat and cowl, you’ll likely need an extra (100g/aran weight) skein of the color you choose for the cowl.

Skills Required: knit, purl, slip stitch, k2tog and k2tog decreases, simple cables. (Intermediate)

The pattern reflects the neater finish for the crown shown in the project samples by test knitters 2knitfast, nascar2448, SovereignCrux, and Trappy.

Additional samples shown were knitted using Cascade Eco Duo (70% undyed baby alpaca, 30% merino wool) in Vanilla (#1705) and Aslan Trends Royal Apaca (100% alpaca) in Sable.

Sincere thanks to test knitters 2knitfast, nascar2448, SovereignCrux, and Trappy, ScrappyGal, and jennieeilerts for their valuable feedback and beautiful FOs. Thanks also to tech editor Therese Chynoweth.
