This ear warmer is a great way to use up leftover yarn, and it keeps the ears toasty! The braided cable adds volume to the fabric, and the i-cord edging gives it a nice shape to stay against your head and cup your ears.

You can make this any size, just make sure it is about 1” shorter than the head circumference, to allow for a little stretching.

Gauge isn’t terribly important, just as long as you like the feel of the fabric. I would say a tighter fabric is better than a looser fabric, just to keep the air out. The needle sizes I used are:
for DK weight yarn : US 7
for Worsted weight yarn : US 8
for Bulky weight yarn : US 9

You will need around a half skein of DK or Worsted weight yarn, and a little over half a skein if you’re making the Bulky option. I held two strands of DK and Sport weight double, which made a nice bulky ear warmer. It’s a great way to use up those half skeins in your stash!

Don’t forget a fun button! A 1” button works great for all sizes.

Please consider making a project page of your FO. It helps designers get a little more exposure. Thank you for knitting my pattern!
