Knitting pattern for Baby Blanket or lap blanket - great for the car, or for elderly relative - a stylish throw with lots of uses - a beautiful and practical gift for relatives, baby showers etc.

Simple cabling makes a lovely chunky blanket. I knitted this with 2 strands of DK cotton yarn, so it’s nice and light and airy - perfect for summer or winter.

Easy and quick to make - suitable for improving beginners, but really satisfying to knit for any level of experience.
The pattern involves cabling and it’s a really great project for improving beginners keen to master the art of cabling. Get’s you really used to the principle of how it works - you’ll be an expert by the end.

Knitted with 2 strands of DK yarn (with yarn doubled) on US size 10 needles (6 mm).
Requires 500 grams of DK yarn (about 900 yds).
You could also make the blanket with worsted weight or aran yarn using the same needles to obtain the same gauge/tension.

Finished size after blocking: 20 1/2” x 25” (52cms x 63.5cms).
