In a lesser-known Regency romantic suspense novella I wrote, The Gentleman’s Quest, the heroine lends the hero her handkerchief. I kind of had handkerchiefs on the brain this past December since I was sniffling and snotty from COVID, so I made Honoria’s handkerchief while I was in isolation (but I didn’t use it! I promise!). It turned out so pretty!

I honestly don’t know the yardage because I forgot to weigh the lace before I attached it to the handkerchief (in order to calculate the yardage). But your yardage will also depend on the size of your handkerchief. Mine was 16” x 16”.

I used US 00 (1.75 mm) needles, but you can use US 0 or US 1 to make the edging look a little more open and hole-y.

I hand-sewed the lace to the handkerchief, but if you’re savvy with a sewing machine, you could probably attach it by machine instead.
