These mittens are my response to the craziness of 2016. I would kindly ask that if you use this pattern, you please donate £5/$6/€6 to the homeless charity Emmanuel House in my home town of Nottingham, UK: http://www.emmanuelhouse.org.uk. You can donate here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/final.... If you want to make and sell these mittens I would ask that all proceeds are donated to homeless or refugee charities in your own home town.

The mittens are knitted in the round in stockinette stitch with a ribbed cuff. There is some simple shaping and picking up stitches for the thumb, but they should be suitable for a relative beginner to knitting, or someone who wants to try knitting in the round for the first time. The HOPE lettering is added afterwards using Swiss darning. The pattern includes a chart for the lettering and some basic instructions and photos for Swiss darning. The pattern is available in one size which should fit M/L women’s and S/M men’s adult hand approximately 18cm around the knuckle. They should be suitable for any DK yarn that is reasonably stretchy. I plan to add additional sizes soon.
