This cowl uses unique construction to create a lined, super warm, easy care cowl. A provisional cast on starts the lining trim in an easy 4 row stripe pattern. When the desired length is reached, live stitches are grafted to the provisional cast on stitches. Stitches are then picked up along the top edge and the houndstooth pattern is worked using the traditional fair isle technique. Easy finishing includes folding the lining to the inside, leaving a 1/2” border at both edges, and sewing into place using a combination mattress stitch and kitchener graft. The lining covers the floats from the fair isle knitting which keeps them from getting caught on buttons, zippers or jewelry. It also creates a cowl with no wrong side. Directions include 2 size options plus guidelines for customizing the length and width of your cowl. Photo shows 8”x 26”. This cowl is designed to coordinate with the Family of Fair Isle Houndstooth Hats pattern.
