Summary:
Ideal for keeping toes cosy in winter and great for wandering around the house in. These socks use a twisted rib for the cuff and top of the foot, and a ‘reinforced’ heel stitch for the heel and sole.

Watch points:
The pattern produces a narrow heel. It includes short rows on the sole of the foot near the toe. These compensate for the difference in row gauge of the stitch patterns used on the top and bottom of the foot. Although it may not be to everyone’s taste, this shaping on the bottom of the foot causes the sock to hug the foot well.

Gauge:
is approximate and dependant on the stitch

  • 20st and 20 rows over 4 in /10cm for the twisted rib.
  • 16st and 26 rows over 4 in /10cm for the heel and sole stitch.
