This Dragonpine Designs pattern was designed by Janet Filipchuk.

“Huggy’s” Throw is dedicated to my favourite Aunt and best friend Huguette McCauley. Huguette knit a third of the autumn, multi-coloured version some years ago. Upon her passing, I had the honour of finishing it for her family. I hope it brings them all both comfort and fond memories of the wonderful woman Huguette was. -- Janet

About the Pattern:
This throw is written for both Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn (held double) and Chunky Weight Yarn (held single strand). Both patterns produce a beautiful throw that will be enjoyed for years to come. The pattern stitch repeats are identical for both weights, but the needle size, number of stitches, yarn quantities and finished size of the throws will differ.
The worsted weight version works up quickly and the fabric is thick and cozy, due to the fact that the yarn is held double throughout. The worsted weight throw is, in fact, thicker and has a bulkier stitch gauge than the chunky version, but has a slightly smaller finished size. The chunky throw has a more traditional look and feel and knits up to a larger finished size than the worsted weight throw.
The Garter Stitch Border and fringe for either throw are optional for the knitter. Make sure to follow the proper instructions based on the weight of yarn you have chosen! Full instructions are included for the crochet cast on technique. The stitch pattern is rhythmic and relaxing and when finished, the texture greatly resembles a “rail fence” quilting pattern. Enjoy!

2200 meters of worsted weight yarn (to be held double throughout) OR 1600 meters of chunky weight yarn (to be held single throughout)
