THAT’S RIGHT….THESE MITTENS REALLY ARE CROCHETED!!!….And you don’t have to be an expert to be able to make them! Finally, you can crochet beautiful fair isle mittens that look like they’ve been made by a professional knitter.

These roomy, cold-weather mittens are made in the round from the top down using two different colors of yarn for the outside, and an optional third color for the lining. The Split Single Crochet stitch looks EXACTLY like the Stockinette Knit stitch, and it enables the crocheter to place one stitch precisely over the top of the stitch underneath it, making the Fair Isle effect possible.

The instructions in the book can be used for all sizes ranging from a medium child to and X-large man. It includes directions for full-sized, fingerless, texting, and cuffed options with 2 different lining texture designs.

The size of your mittens will be determined by what type of yarn or size of hook you use, and whether or not you choose to line them. Generally, use fine sock yarn for small, fingering weight for medium, sport weight large, and worsted weight for X-large.
But remember, yarn size varies greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. Working a gauge is the best way to determine which size you will end up with. For beginners: choose a medium weight yarn that’s easy to handle, choose 2 colors that are not extremely dark or extremely light in color to prevent peak-a-boo stitches, and choose a larger hook than recommended to keep stitches loose.
