I designed this shawl to wrap the wearer in a warm hug. Please make it for someone who could use comfort, and to know that they are loved.
This is a great group project to make for a special person – you can pass it around to different knitters, or have different people choose the yarns or tie the fringe knots (good way to include non-knitters). This is a long rectangular shawl. Each row is knitted, and tension can vary slightly on rows without affecting the whole shawl.
While I am working on this shawl, I think of the person for whom I am knitting – knitting love and blessings into the shawl as I work.
You might choose to write a note, or blessing for the intended wearer of the shawl and attach it with a pretty ribbon. You could also include a card with the signed by all those who helped with the knitting or yarn choices.
There are ideas for prayers and blessings online at the Prayer Shawl Ministry site.
