This sock pattern was designed when I happened to obtain a beautiful skein of Hiwassee Creek Dyeworks yarn named “Hawthorne”. A colorway dyed in the likeness of Gale Hawthorne, a character from The Hunger games. I immediately fell in love with the colorway and decided I wanted to design a pattern that would capture Gale with his bow and arrow. To help feed this family, Gale hunts illegally in the forest adjacent to District 12. He teaches Katniss to hunt. They become best friends and hunting partners.

The pattern is written for DPNs referring to Needles 1-4. You can accommodate it for Magic Loop or 2 circulars.

NOTIONS: Stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round, A tapestry needle for weaving ends.

PATTERN STYLE: The pattern contains written as well as chart instructions. There is a key and full abbreviation list included as well.

DIFFICULTY: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate: Right-Twist (RT), Left-Twist (LT), increases, decreases, and sock construction.

YARN: This pattern is better suited for solid or lightly tonal yarn to show off the detail of the pattern. It may get lost in a heavy variegated yarn, but a subtle variegation should be okay. I did my sample in self-striping, which I like.
