This vest showcases the same style herringbone stitch that I used for my original version of the Katniss Cowl (inspired by the one seen on the character of ‘Katniss’ in Catching Fire)

The whole time I was writing the pattern, and even knitting the many cowls that I sold, I constantly had ideas running through my head of other things that the stitch could be used for.

So, while Katniss never wore a vest like this in the movie, it is most definitely inspired by that character, and the cowl she wore in the movie. I can even picture her wearing it. It’s rustic, it’s strong and it would be fabulous layered in many different ways for the cold winters in District 12.

This pattern contains instructions for making the vest in 2 basic sizes S/M and L/XL. The sizing on this vest is very forgiving as the laces on the sides and neck allow you to adjust it to fit over larger bust or even over a winter coat.

Short Videos showing how to do the herringbone stitch as I have it written can be found on my Etsy Facebook page here:
