Hush Puppy was a knitted dog puppet character from Shari Lewis’s TV shows in the 1970s although her other glove puppet Lamb Chop is the more famous of the two.

From Patons leaflet 1477 produced in association with Oxfam in 1977. Reproduced by kind permission of Shari Lewis.
Knitted & crocheted versions of the puppet.
There’s a scaled plan for felt ears, eyebrows, tongue, waistcoat & bow tie.

Would fit a large child’s hand or small adult’s.

Pattern suggests 2x50g skeins of Patons Fiona DK which was 51% wool, 49% acrylic, but any DK yarn would be suitable. Plus an odd piece of fabric and small amount of kapok for stuffing the head. Plus felt for ears, eyebrows, tongue, jacket & bow-tie. Plus 3 small buttons for jacket. Plus nose & eyes.

NB Yarn is used double throughout.
