A versatile must-have accessory for cooler weather, the Hypatia Cowl can be worn 4 different ways: open as a long loop (like a scarf, but with the ends connected), wrapped double around your neck as a cowl, around your shoulders, or as a traditional cowl. Worked flat until the desired length is reached (The length forms the circumference that will wrap around the shoulders), the Hypatia Cowl shows off sweet mock cables and a twisted stitch patterning which is worked on both sides to create a reversible fabric. The button holes are worked along the width at the start of the piece and the buttons are then sewn along the width of the bind off edge.

The pattern is written in 3 widths – to wear the loop open or doubled as a cowl, it is recommended to make one of the smaller widths while working a longer 60” length. To wear the loop around your shoulders as a small buttoned stole, simply follow the instructions for the 11” width and choose from the 30, 34, or 36” length (select the number that is slightly smaller than your shoulder circumference). To make a traditional cowl knit the 14” width and either the 20 or 24” length.
