This crescent shaped shawlette is worked upwards beginning with a lace edging quite simple; the lace edging is combined either with intarsia knitting to create stars (garnet version), either with lace that shows the so famous star-shaped traditional Estonian pattern, i.e. “vesiroos” (waterlily). After that, you will shape the body working short rows while spreading small stars. A picot bind off is used for the upper edge.

This pattern is not really difficult to knit. However, you have to pay attention to techniques, especially one that is widely used in Estonian lace knitting, i.e. working many times a few sts together before dropping them. This particular technique - the “star technique” - making several stitches out of a group of stitches, is applied to the lace edging, the stitch pattern and the picot bind off.

Measurements:

• blue version: 14.5” x 52” (36 cm x 130 cm);
• garnet version: 15.6” x 56” (39 cm x 140 cm).;
• teck version: 18” x 56 “ (45 cm x 140 cm). You may resizing I am a star adding more pattern repeats.

• blue version: Regia Hand-dye effect (blue) 1 ball + Malabrigo yarn lace (ochre) 1 skein;
• garnet version: Alpaca coproca (garnet) 1.5 ball + Malabrigo yarn lace (ochre) 1 skein;
• teak version: Anny Blatt Cosy (teck 2 balls + natural 1 ball).

Ce petit châle arrondi se tricote de bas en haut. Il est bordé par une dentelle assez simple surmontée soit d’un jacquard en intarsia représentant des étoiles (châle grenat), soit d’une bande en dentelle avec les fameux “vesiroos” (nymphéas) estoniens, motifs traditionnels à l’aspect étoilé. Le corps du châle se travaille en rangs raccourcis dans un point évoquant des petites étoiles. A la fin, les mailles sont rabattues en tricotant un picot.

Ce châle n’est pas très difficile à réaliser, mais il demande un peu d’attention sur le plan technique, notamment quand vous serez amenée à tricoter plusieurs fois de suite plusieurs mailles prises ensemble. Cette technique, traditionnelle dans la dentelle estonienne, sera appliquée dans la bordure, le point d’étoiles et le picot de bordure.
