I created and knit this cap and am publishing the pattern without going through my normal testing process. I WILL SUPPORT THE PATTERN and correct errors and re-issue to buyers if needed.

All proceeds from this cap will go to RAICES - The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees in Central and South Texas.

No matter what your stance on immigration, the families separated from young children at the border are the most vulnerable. This fund provides legal aid to help reunite families. My own mother was the daughter of Italian immigrants at a time when they were not easily accepted. Most of us are the children of immigrants not too many generations removed.

Knit a cap in worsted (or DK or fingering) and wear your heart on your head. It’s 95 degrees out today, too hot for hats. Your purchase will help someone you don’t know but deserves to be with family. This cap says you care, all the parents and children are joined by the hands, the way it should be. Two “I Care” charts, one with a broken heart and one with a mended heart, are available. Thank you. And like Pierre said, “Care.”
