Oscar is my favorite Sesame Street character. He’s unapologetic in his interests, was “upcycling” before it was cool, and has the best taste out of anyone on Sesame Street. (Sorry, Bert.) I can never bring myself to throw away sock yarn scraps, so I now have a decorative bowl overflowing with them. My husband went to throw it away one day and I stopped him.

“But isn’t this yarn…trash?” He asked. “There’s not enough of any of these yarns to do something with.”

“I LOVE TRASH.” I argued, echoing my favorite Sesame Street Character. “And I’m going to do something with them. Someday.”
That someday has arrived.

I Love Trash is a sock yarn leftovers cowl! If, like me, you have a bowl full of 25-75 yard balls of sock yarn leftovers that you can’t bear to throw away because you’ll use them…someday…this is a great project for you!

Would also work really well to use up your mini-skein collection, or those three balls of handpainted sock yarn that go together but you just can’t figure out a pattern for!
