As William Carlos Williams confessed many years ago, a chilled plum is too good to pass up. Our Icebox Plum is a treat for your arms that starts with one delightful base and finishes either of two ways: as a cuff/wrist warmer, or as a fingerless mitt. In either case, there are three sizes so you can get the perfect fit.

Icebox Plum is full of knitterly details that add warmth and beauty, like a sweet picot hem, trim welts, delicate cables, and a raised motif of ripe plums. The pair works up pleasingly quickly in Why Knot Fibers’ delicious Starlit yarn--a smooshy, DK-weight merino blend with a twist of sparkle that hints at the icy chill its wooly goodness keeps at bay. One skein will make a pair in any size. The pattern includes both charted and fully written-out instructions.

These snuggly mitts are the perfect accessory to keep you warm when you pluck the last perfect fruit from the fridge. Better still, they leave your fingers free to write that sorry-not-sorry note to the unlucky person who finds the empty bowl!

And if your head could also use a snuggle, check out the second pattern in the Plums set, Sugar Plum, another two-fer that can be finished as a hat or an ear warmer.
