From book: Inspired by the classic Icelandic yoke sweater scaled down to canine proportions, this sweater draws its details from traditional designs. It works up quickly, and is appropriate for the intermediate knitter. The fit is somewhat loose, as its human counterpart would be.

The pattern specifies:

Size: S (M, L, XL) to fit chest 14 (16, 22, 26)“ / 35.5 (40.5, 56, 66) cm

Finished size: 26 (21, 28, 31)“ / 40.5 (53.5, 71, 79) cm chest circumference; 12 (16, 21, 23)” / 30.5 (40.5, 53, 58.5) cm length. Sweater shown in the book is a Medium, 21” chest, and is made with Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride worsted weight yarn. The pattern information begins on page 48, and includes four small color graphs for the color work.

Yarn:

  • Worsted weight yarn, approximately 180 (250, 300, 400) yard / 160 (229, 275, 366) meters of light gray (MC);
  • 50 yards / 46 meters each of deep charcoal gray, charcoal heather, and sable brown.

Needles:

  • Size 8 / 5 mm: straight needles and circular needles (16” / 40.5 cm or 24” / 61 cm long, depending on size of sweater);
  • Size 6 / 4 mm: double-pointed needles and 24” / 61 cm circular needles.

Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Stitch markers, stitch holders, tapestry needle.

Gauge: 17 stitches and 24 rows = 4” / 10 cm on size 8 needles in stockinette stitch.
