Like icing on a birthday cake, the Icing Shawl with its rows of slip-stitch “piping” will adorn your shoulders in something to celebrate! It is an asymmetrical shawl knit on the bias, and it looks fabulous when knitted with 2 complimentary colors and one of them is a variegated yarn. German Short Rows are used to form small waves of stockinette in a sea of garter stitch stripes. I knit this with approximately 350 yards of variegated yarn and 400 of a solid yarn in fingering weight, but this pattern could also be knit in anything from fingering through sport weight yarn. My shawl measures just over 7 feet end to end, and 19 inches at its widest point. Full written instructions, row counts, and several video help links are included in the pattern
