I offer this pattern for free, which is why it has not been test knit. If you decide to knit these socks and find an error in the pattern or in the charts, please let me know! Thank you!

I got a lovely skein of wool/silk sock yarn from Handu’s sock club this summer. The colourway was named after the artist representing Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest this year. The name of these socks, therefore, is taken from the lyrics of Paradise Oscar’s Da Da Dam.

The pattern is intended to suit variegated yarns as well as solid and semisolid colourways. I wanted a simple pattern with a little something happening all the time, so there are cables running from top to toe and along the heel flap. The right and left socks are mirror images of each other.

26/7/11: If you like, after the CO round you can begin following Chart 1 (left sock) / Chart 4 (right sock) from Row 2 (= skip the first cabling round). This is what has been done in the sock pictured in the pattern. This makes the stitches look loose compared to the ribbing, but when worn, the difference evens out.

29/7/11: The toe decreases take about 5 cm / 2 inches (or slightly more or less depending on your gauge).

7/8/11: The 4 R 4 and 4 L 4 cables in the cable guide should read:
Sl 4 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k4 from left needle, k4 from cable needle
Sl 4 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k4 from left needle, k4 from cable needle
