Add a WOW factor to your wardrobe! Two rectangles joined together create this striking poncho. Although it may look difficult, this piece is not an advanced knit project. Working through the pattern step-by-step reveals a series of simple techniques that combine to create a complex garment.

Gauge: 11 ½ sts over plaid = 4 in (10 cm) and 11 ½ sts over cable = 4” (10 cm)

Continue working in 8-row charted cabled patt19x for 152 rows, or until rectangle is the same length as the plaid section is wide. End with a WS row. Bind off sts of cable section. You should have two rectangles joined together to form a right angle.

With the first circular needle PU 52 sts along the right edge of the original plaid (along the edge of the first vertical stripe in A) and with second circular needle PU 52 sts along color E edge of cable section; PU 1 st for every 2 rows + 1. Using the three needle bind off or another grafting method, join the end of the cabled section with the edge of the plaid section, creating a neck opening where the 52 live sts rem from the plaid section.
